Problem: Plan Storage
|
800,000 Roll Plans stored in pigeon holes and flat files
taking up 2 complete floors of valuable city office space
– no room for expansion.
|
|
Solution
Multi Level Racking consolidated all plans to
one section of one floor.
|
- Improved access and retrieval times – increased productivity
- Documents are protected from accidental damage
- Saved 60% of floor space - more plans per square foot
Section pictured stored 64,000 AO size sheets in an
area of 14 sq. metres

Problem: Map Storage
|
- 50,000 maps all sizes, mostly large.
- Currently sitting on floor rolled up, stuck in flat
drawers, very hard to access if there are large quantities
- Damage and tearing the maps when opening and closing
the drawers.
- The drawers are very heavy, and the runners have a limited
life span.
- Wasted floor space when you can only go so high with
drawer units because of accessing.
- Floor space consumed in this setup was massive.
|
Solution
Multifile racking
- 18,000 maps on one level in 5.4 square metres (17.82 square
feet).
- Quick access and retrieval.
- No drawer damage.
- Floor space is now a 1/3 of the drawers.
- Way economically priced than sets of drawers.
- 34,000 maps stored in 2 levels.
- Even though it has 2 levels (using your floor space correctly)
by using the locking platform ladder, accessing the maps is
done with ease.
- When accessing a map, you hang it on the attachment supplied
to the ladder, simply vacate the ladder and retrieve your map,
this also works in the reverse roll of putting a map into the
Multifile rack.
- The weight of the steel cabinets are eliminated, your floor
space is correctly used, again quick access and retrieval
- It does not matter what size the maps are, they will always
line up to the one indexing point.
- If required you can always put a tidy cover around the unit
(as per picture of State Rail).
Result
For a very economical investment, these maps can
be stored on 1 floor only, the floor space has decreased immensely,
and the speed of accessing is outstanding.
